An Artist in Every Child
As Pablo Picasso has said, "Every child is an artist.". And today, my girls and their cousins were artists. How very fitting that my first post on "The Messy Bun Mom" would be highlighting today's art show. (art, events, letting my girls' imaginations run wild, and creating magical memories are what my "Messy Bun Life" consists of!) My husband, myself, and our three girls live just south of Atlanta, however I am from a small community in Knoxville where my whole family lives on what we affectionately call "The Ridge". Today my girls and all their cousins, "The Ridge Kids", held an Art Show to display a few of their masterpieces. My girls are constantly saying, "When I grow up I want to be...", and the profession changes daily. This past week they both wanted to be artists so we decided to create and display just like professional artists do! Every child from ages 6 months to 7 years old created an original artwork. Not only did they paint their visions, but the older kids titled their art and explained what they were seeing in their pictures. Having them explain their art in their own words was truly precious. I so envy the simplicity and amazement of a child's imagination. The girls made appetizers and had sparkling beverages for our family who came to see our outdoor gallery. As everyone looked at our children's art, the artists were explaining their pictures very proudly!! This was a very cute and special event, one that we will definitely be hosting again!
